Today dawned cold and clear, so I waited until later morning before my son Matt and I started for the Farmington River. Arriving late morning proved to be a wise choice. We had our first stop to ourselves, another reason to get a later start. Matt was Euro nymphing and got on the board first with a nice fat brown and I followed shortly thereafter with a couple of nice Bows on streamers. We both continued to catch and release quite a few nice rainbows with a few chunky, well fed browns thrown into the mix. We had plenty of action for a couple of hours.
Below are a couple of photos. Matt playing a nice rainbow and finally in the net. A very successful opening day!!!
Nice job guys!

ReplyDeleteYou know you are fishing my favorite river up that way---I know this place gets a lot of pressure, but what the heck, it is still one awesome place to wet a fly. Congrats on a successful day.

It is an awesome river to fish and while it gets lots of pressure for sure there are many places to fish on this river and have no company!! And it was a great father and son opening day!
